Epiphone Blackstone EXC Here's an elegant jazz
box with a stark art deco
sunburst spruce top and a much more traditional sunburst maple back. All original but for
the pickguard including
tuning pegs and wartime tailpiece with a
brazilian rosewood crosspiece to match the brazilian rosewood adjustable
bridge. Pearl inlaid
headstock. All crack free and in fine condition. Original hard
shell case is pretty nice too with some wear.

AG - 00070 1958 Zenith by
Ivor Mairants VG+ From London. This is the Super Deluxe
Cutaway "33" Model and is approved and tested and signed by Ivor
Mairants. This is a pretty cool guitar with it's big 17 1/2" cutaway body and sunburst top,
back and sides. It's been
played and still plays great. Adjustable bridge, trapeze tailpiece,
bound f-holes, 1 11/16ths nut width. Fingerboard may once have had an
extension which might have been removed for a pickup. Tasty headstock inlay and original
tuning pegs. Gig bag.
Price: $995.00 Now: $895.00
AG - 00045 1939 Gretsch
Model 35 VG Unusual sunburst top and sunburst
back and sides and even neck. There's playwear
but everything is original including
tuning pegs and the classy "Gretsch" scroll inlaid into the rosewood
peghead. The small body and small f-holes and great wood and carving make
this a great sounding guitar and it's set up very nicely and plays quite comfortably.
Gig bag.

Hawaiian No. 40 EXC I haven't seen many of these
and this one is all original and it great shape. Nice sunburst spruce
top with the "bowtie" bridge and screwed on pickguard. Mahogany back and sides. Original tuning pegs and a fabulous
art deco green pearloid engraved peghead. Set up still
original
for Hawaiian style playing with a slide but it is a round neck and could
be converted although it seems a shame. Non original chipboard case.

OB - 0004 Mid Twenties Orpheum
#2 Original 5 String Banjo EXC This is one you
rarely see. There seem to be more #1's and #3's than there are #2's in
original five strings. This one is a beauty with a nice old skin head on it. Maple rim and neck with nice long
backstrap on the back of the
peghead and the fancy inlay in the headstock and the fingerboard. Gorgeous carved heel. Original hard
shell case.
Price: $2995.00 Now: $2650.00
YB - 0002 Yosco #3 Tenor
Banjo EXC Probably from the mid-twenties as the
patent for the internal resonator was granted in 1918 and they were
listed as being in business in 1930. This is a high quality instrument
in fine shape. The patented internal resonator design makes for a deep
archtop rim and the f-holes
in the back of the sound
chamber are fancier than the Bacon variety. Attention to detail is
evident at the heel as
well as the fancy backstrap on the back of the peghead.
Elegant inlay adorns the fingerboard and headstock. The original
hard shell case is
pretty nice as well.

FB - 0002 ca. 1915 A.A.
Farland 5 String Banjo EXC+
This is a very unusual banjo in exceptional condition and it plays and
sounds great. It is completely original and would make a great addition
to a museum or an old timey band. It has a 12 7/8" rim with more brackets than you care
to count. Perhaps the most unique feature is the Patented metal head !! whose
inside label is
extremely informative. On the inside of the rim is a label picturing a
youthful "Alfred.A." (one would assume) and proclaiming the "Beveled Top Wood
Rim". Lovely abalone leaves and ribbon inlay in the peghead and original
tuning pegs. Laminated maple neck with
carved heel.
The generous fingerboard extension gives you 29 frets with a
scale length of 28 1/2". Tune this baby down and get that John Hartford
sound. Older hard shell case.

EB - 00001
Original 5 String Epiphone Banjo ca. 1920 VG This is
a rare banjo for an Epiphone afficionado. It's got a great old timey sound and
puts out a lot of volume. Take a look at the
inside of the rim. Very straightforward. The banjo is all orignal including
the pegs . The
label on the back dates it to the days of "The House of Stathopoulo". There
is very nice detail
where the neck widens for the fifth peg. The resonator
is pretty birds eye maple which shows up nicely even on the
inside. A simple flange
keeps it in place. The
headstock has a simple but elegant veneer overlay. The banjo is in excellent
condition with no problems. It has playing wear. The original double pocket,
plush lined case is in quite good shape on the inside but worn on the outside.
Two latches need to be replaced and it is not really structurally sound. It
could be restored.

TB - 0006 B&D Ne Plus
Ultra Tenor Banjo EXC Fancy? Yup. This is one of the
later examples by Gretsch. The
tuning pegs have been replaced with gold Grover Imperials which work very
well. The black and gold
rim exudes elegance, Ornate and colorful engraved pearloid blocks are set
into the ebony fingerboard.
The resonator is spectacular
M.O.T.S. The peghead
is adorned with engraved pearloid and rhinestones galore. The crowning glory
is the carved heel
which when examined closely is a ferocious looking
lions head. Good hard shell case.

machine. Maple rim and well played but
smooth neck. Whyte Laydie type
tone ring. Fully documented
dowel stick. Elegant Ebony
peghead overlay and original
tuning pegs. This is a
nice original example of a real classic right down to the original wire armrest . The hard wooden case is unique
if not original.

LM -0002 1924 Lyon & Healy Style A
Professional Mandola EXC A rare top of the line
mandola made by Lyon & Healy for Washburn. #14219 Style 5300
This is a wonderful sounding instrument and easy playing as well.
The neck has been subtly thinned down a tad and then oversprayed. It
feels great. This has the rare dark finish spruce top and dark flame maple back and sides. It even
retains its original
"proboscus" or whatever you want to call the little peglet that can
be extended from the lower side to fit into your vest pocked and provide
support. Elegant scroll
peghead with enclosed tuning pegs. 15 7/8" scale length.
Original hard shell case in fair shape.

GM - 00083 Two Point Goya
Mandolin ca.1958 Exc- This is a rare and wild looking mandolin
that was probably made in the late fifties.
It has a carved spruce top and
maple back and sides. It is in
beautiful shape with just a few little dings and a mar in the finish where maybe
some contols for a pickup used to be. The detail and workmanship are
very nice and it plays really well and sounds really good. Original tuning pegs and art deco headstock ornamentation.
The label is in fine shape.
Original hard shell case.

GM -00043 1958 Gibson
F-12 VG++ If you need to plug in sometimes this could
be the perfect mandolin for you. It's a good sounding 50's F model with the
long neck and elevated fingerboard and it's got a bridge pickup installed
that sounds just like an acoustic mandolin when plugged into a decent amp. An
input jack is installed
in the side. It's also a very comfortable player with good action, frets and
neck angle. Nice sunburst
top and nice birdseye maple on the
back. There's a ding on the back of the neck but you don't feel it when
playing. It has it's original gold Kluson tuning pegs. There's the
typical headstock repair
of the scroll and the typical missing (or discarded) pickguard and the tailpiece
cover has also departed somewhere along the way. Original rectangular brown
case with pink lining is in pretty good shape.
Price: $3500.00 Now: $3250.00
GM - 00084 1955 Gibson A-50
Blackface VG Here's a unique one in my
experience. I've never seen a blackface from this era and this is
original. It's got tons of play wear but no issues. There's one
repaired crack going down from the bottom of the bass f-hole to the edge
and that's it. Lots of finish checking on the top but the finish on the back has hardly a scratch. The tuning peg buttons have shrunken
a little but still function fine. A previous owner used stick on
letters to put an "R" under the Gibson script on the headstock and also to put
"Basil" under the strings at the
tailpiece. Such vanity. Beat up hardshell case.
Price: $1750.00 Now: $1550.00
GM - 00087 1932 Gibson A-4
EXC - This is a unusual variant of the A-4. It
has a little player wear but no cracks anywhere and original tailpiece,
bridge, tuning pegs, and
finish which is nicely checked on the back. The top has the nice dark small
sunburst with plain rosette. The "Gibson" inlay in the peghead is straight across. It
has an elevated
fingerboard. Good sounding and playing rare mandolin. Non original hard
shell case.
Price: $1995.00 Now: $1750.00
GB - 00022 1926 Gibson MB-2
Banjo Mandolin VG++ You see quite a few of
these old one piece diamond
flange MB-1's around but not many MB-2's. This one is in very nice
shape with a few nicks on the back and a worn place on the head. It plays nicely (quite loud
as one would expect). 10 1/2" rim. It has it's original tuning pegs, the fancy inlaid peghead and the serial number
still bold as a hopscotch court on the inside of the resonator. And it
has its original hard shell
case.
Price: $850.00 Now: $750.00
TG - 00036 1937 Gretsch
Archtop Tenor Guitar   VG- Wow! If this thing was
in original pristine condition I wouldn't sell it for love nor money.
It's likely a custom ordered guitar. It shares some features with the
Model 65 such as the segmented f- holes and floral design on the peghead but it has a one
piece crack free Brazilian rosewood
back !! Sides are also Brazilian rosewood with some well done repairs.
Nice natural aged solid spruce top is crack free.
The rosewood fingerboard has beautiful engraved inlays similar
to the fanciest banjos of the time.
The guitar has plenty of wear and the finish
has been sanded to satin. A previous owner added a lovely silver
'man in the moon' just under
the engraved Gretch banner on the peghead. Someone has also put a small screw
into the back of the nut to keep it snug. The guitar has just been expertly setup and the
bridge securely correctly positioned. It plays well and has a nice
balanced sound. No case.

"Cliff Edwards" Tenortrope VG The great Ukelele Ike (Cliff Edwards -
and thanks to EZ Marc for the photo) got
together with the Dopyera Brothers in the 30's and designed this baby.
This one plays great and sounds fantastic and is basically just a ton of
fun. It's been well used, obviously with nicks and scratches on the top and the back. The Dobro decal on the
headstock is in pretty
nice shape though and there are new geared tuning pegs installed that
work far better than the broken friction pegs that were on it. It has
the "pat pend" on the
coverplate and a wonderful original engraved "Dobro" tenor tailpiece. Non original
chipboard case.
